Studio Anand Sheth is a bicoastal multidisciplinary design practice that approaches architecture and interiors from a decidedly conceptual and artful point of view.

Strongly rooted in San Francisco, the firm’s owner and principal architect Anand Sheth has satellite offices in Los Angeles and New York while remaining informed by core values imbued from his home city, including a resilient and rebellious spirit, and vulnerable and generous hospitality.

A licensed architect steeped in the arts, Anand Sheth leads unconventional design projects, creating functional architecture, interiors, and furnishings that communicate as directly as artworks.

From arts-driven hospitality spaces, gathering-focused residences, destination wellness facilities, and localized workplace environments, his work is resourceful and inventive, reframing human perspective with a focus on changemaking. The result is a series of incidental interactions within each project that add energy to—and shift the dynamics of—our everyday.

At the same time, Anand is devoted to using his practice as a vehicle for creative expression. Raised in Los Angeles by Indian immigrant parents, Anand moved daily between industrious South LA and opulent beach towns, giving him a keen perspective on development at an early age. Paired with his arts education, his work is now informed by a similar framework – are we designing for or are we designing against. Anand continues to manifest this creative vision in the world through lectures, panel discussions, and events. Ultimately, Anand’s expressive process seeks to demystify architecture and emphasize education, inclusion, and joy.

While the outcome is always architecture, Anand’s work toggles priorities in a nonhierarchical way between interior design, furniture, and art, ensuring each project lands on the correct solution to its unique design problem.

Anand’s in-house design team consists of thoughtfully selected experts with experience in a variety of fields:

  • Intermediate Designer

  • Senior Designer

  • Permit Architect

  • Materials Librarian

  • Lighting Designer

  • Project Manager

Before opening his firm in February 2021, Anand led a decade’s worth of notable design projects at the award-winning San Francisco-based Boor Bridges Architecture including The Jesse Hotel in Reno, The Manufactory in LA, multiple Sightglass cafés in San Francisco, and a series of creative offices. Throughout his career, Anand has strived to balance architecture with service,  as the Design Lead for GROUND – the non-profit urban platform for activating formerly vacant lots and buildings to restore Black use, as an artist-in-residence with Ruth Asawa School of the Arts, and as a mentor through CCA and NOMA’s Project Pipeline.  Anand is a licensed architect in California (2017) and New York (2024) and obtained his Bachelor of Architecture with Distinction from California College of the Arts (2011) in San Francisco.

Ambitiously, Anand designs to shape the world towards the future he would like to see—one that is equitable and prioritizes access, investigating systems of power and oppression in the process. At the same time, he seeks to build appreciation for contemporary design and encourage observation of the world around us, especially of things one struggles to understand.  Anand invests in clients and collaborators who are making positive physical change in the world, bringing his knowledge and expertise in support of a larger vision. For Anand, helping people understand how and why their spaces are made is the quickest path towards individual and community empowerment.
