Anand Sheth, an interior designer based in San Francisco, adorned a wine bar he designed in Oakland. “People love the stories behind them, even if they’re not related to the folks in the pictures,” he says. “It’s like bringing a piece of history into the present without being overly nostalgic.” The large painting on the right is by Gabe Kasor.
