Retool’s headquarters span two cities—San Francisco’s Mission District and New York’s Flatiron District—supporting a rapidly growing software company while maintaining the curiosity and experimentation of an early-stage startup.
The design framework, Future Memories, treats each office as a stage for the everyday moments that shape company culture: conversations on the stair, shared meals, and spontaneous collaboration. Across both locations, the architecture organizes workspaces around cafés, lounges, and communal zones that encourage teams to gather, pause, and reconnect throughout the day.
Rather than treating the workplace as purely functional infrastructure, the offices create an environment where company culture becomes visible. Social spaces, circulation paths, and shared rooms act as catalysts for interaction—allowing the life of the company to unfold in real time across both coasts.
